Now the question… which simulator would you choose in this situation, and why? GC3 or Mevo+? I have exactly 16ft of length, could maybe push it to 17ft but don’t think that will add any real simulator value at the expense of encroaching on the music studio. Down the road I may consider a projector and screen, we’ll see. For now, I’ll just be using my iPad or laptop to display simulator information/graphics (both can ultimately be linked through a TV).

I upgraded the net to a Net Return Pro and am also upgrading to a TrueStrike mat. It’ll also be used to play simulator rounds over the winter months. I’ll use the simulator primarily for practice, as an at-home range makes it much easier to find 30-60 mins for practice.

This gives me the extra space to upgrade the golf set up, including the addition of a simulator. It will remain similar in function, but I have reduced the footprint of the fitness area after selling a rack and olympic weights. It’s pretty much always consisted of a fitness area, golf net, music studio, bar. I am in the process of re-organizing the man cave. Shot a lot of doubles but hit a few pars as well, kept up just fine and had fun. I took my game 'on the road' to Charleston National on vacation and played a round with a few members, longer course but wider fairways. It's also a very narrow course, no parallel fairways. Not long but not a par 3, at least not for a newer player. Īs far as distances, the 3 courses I play most are ranging from 5900 to 6200 yards from the white (men's tees). I guess I should have phrased the question as 'Does newer 3 wood tech add distance with moderate swing speed over 15+ year old 3 wood tech'.

It's not as if having a better 3 wood in 10 weeks when I'm more consistent with the driver will somehow be a disadvantage. Working on my driver and short game as time allows as well, I enjoy playing more than going to the driving range so it'll get there when it gets there. If I can spend a couple hundred bucks or less on a club that improves my on course performance right now it's worth it to me, my 3 wood cost me $20 I hardly have a lot tied up in it. I'm trying to simultaneously shoot better scores while improving my short game. Recently I have acquired modern Driver, Fairway Wood, and hybrid(s), but the Hogans suit me just fine. Those were hefty, probably a swing weight of E2.

The oldest set was some 2-SW Bobby Jones with leather grips which I got at a garage sale at the time for around $40. Prior to the Hogan's I used various Spaulding, Macgregor muscle backs. The first change to a new set (at the time) were a set of Titleist 963 DCI Blacks. The current set is graphite shafted Hogan Edges. I had Adams Tight Lies, Adams AEo (or something like that) which were a mix of hybrids, and SGI irons. In the past 30 years, I think I have only bought new irons perhaps only 3 times, always going back to the pre-2000 era. I hit them so much better than the Pings and will probably be selling the G25's soon.

After using the Pings for a while the Supersteels are back in my bag. I have a set of older TaylorMade Supersteel irons with the bubble shafts and I recently replaced them with a set of Ping G25's. Just curious if any others user older irons.
